Formed in 2005, London five-piece Cats and Cats and Cats have spent the last five years catching the attention of those in the know and creating a deserved buzz about themselves. The band have already made a number of notable festival appearances, as well as supporting the likes of Foals, Blood Red Shoes, Youthmovies and 65 Days of Static.
There are parallels to be drawn between the band's music and 'fight pop' champions Dananananaykroyd - the hollered backing vocals, the anthemic cll-to-arms choruses - though Cats and Cats and Cats melding of strings and brass gives their songs a slightly more melodic feel, and whilst If I'd Had An Atlas does have its spiky, immediate moments, the overall mood is more folk than fight.
If I'd Had An Atlas has an infectious thread of energy running through it from start to finish, though it's a controlled energy used to great effect in creating a really rather impressive and exciting collection of songs.
