Hmm, I’d heard a few snippets about these guys before, I knew that they’d played at the Reading and Leeds festivals and had toured alongside Lostprophets and Aiden, the press release told me they were about to head out on the road alongside Funeral For A Friend too… all good stuff indeed! Certainly I was interested in hearing what these lads sounded like and where they’d fit in alongside so many other impressive rock and metal acts from Wales (these guys came together in a rundown industrial area on Cardiff‘s outer fringes). Well, I’ll be honest the first track I heard had a hint of Fall Out Boy about it (and no, I don’t mean that as an insult), the riff was really catchy and the song burrowed quickly into my brain. This was some of the most infectious Pop Punk I’d heard in a while, all well and good, but lets be honest, how many times have we heard a great first track and then found the rest of the album doesn’t stand up to it? Thankfully, I can report that there’s enough invention and variety here to really impress from start to finish. Heavy, grungey riffs collide with melodies that wouldn’t sound out of place in a top twenty run down.
