So reads the opening paragraph of the Press Release that accompanies this album from the Irish singer songwriter folk hero, and i'd agree that Ben Reel is a Artist, his songs scream out with heart and warmth and intention... But singular he most definitely is not.
With shades and moments of Neil Young folk-rock, and bursts of Bonoesque emoting... it is an album thats ticks boxes and fulfills its remit of a being an attention grabbing piece of artistry, but it lacks a deth and a edge that could have elevated it out of the also-rans and coul-have-beens...
Not a wasted opportunity... But an opportunity that could have been usd more effectively.
The music is good, The vocals are momentarily great... But the parts make an idealistic, and not thorough whole...
