Let’s get this straight, HOODS aren’t going to make any genre morphing discoveries with this album. Nor would they want to of course. This is a hardcore record and nothing else. There’s nothing new on display and of course there’s only so much you can do with it all, but having been around since 1995 they certainly know how to do it well.
All the elements are there that you’d expect, chugging riffs, beatdowns galore and gang vocals destined to be shouted back at the band from fans across the world. HOODS have delivered an energetic and passionate album that also knows how to have a good time. ‘Pit Beast’ is an appropriate title for an album that is made for the live setting. On Nunchuk front man Mike Hood tells us, ‘I wanna circle pit, I wanna circle pit, I wanna circle pit - mosh mosh mosh mosh.’
At eleven tracks in length and just over twenty minutes long it’s about the right length. If you like your hardcore straight up and heavy then you won’t go far wrong with this release.
