UK deathcore is a little bit iffy isn’t it? There’s something annoying about us all-of-a-sudden imitating a scene that exploded internationally, particularly when we’re not doing a very good job of it.
Iknowaghost aren’t very good really... Incomprehensible song structures and predictable time signatures are overlaid with dull vocals and riffs which have been regurgitated time and time before. ‘Deviations’ is a hard release to listen to, and in all honesty difficult to find something enjoyable about.
The band draw influence from US band I Killed The Prom Queen and Aussie mammoths Parkway Drive, but are far from their ambitions. As a debut this could be taken either way; a) the band have given themselves room to grow with their follow up album, or b) this style just isn’t working for them.
