NinjaSonik sound exactly how their album artwork would have you imagine; scatty, colourful and lively. The band have held a successful and self-sustained buzz on the streets of Brooklyn, NY for some time now and this, their debut album, has been anticipated. Beginning as an art concept record, the proposition is fun and eclectic, featuring fellow New Yorkers Matt & Kim on a track, as well as guest appearances from Vivian Girl and Team Robespierre.
Its NinjaSoniks brand of schizophrenic punk-rap which sets them apart, some will find this unlistenable whereas others will fully engage and understand where the band are coming from. There is an electro buzz throughout and an unnerving beat, an underlying hip-hop edge and plentiful off-key crooning, which agitates yet warms you to the band.
Art School Girls is Marmite personified.
