Taking influence from a diverse group of artists ranging from John Martyn, JJ Cale to Rainer Ptacek, Taylor's music is a blend of dark folk and blues. It’s eerie and intoxicating. He plays with such pain and yearning that seem to surpass someone of his youth. As well as being an accomplished singer song writer, he’s also a multi instrumentalist.
Whisperingand broody Calcutta Groveis the sort of album that instantly strikes a chord with you. Taylor takes a minimalistic approach to his arrangemenand production, further cultivating that discerning feeling that resonates throughout his music. The stand out track on this album is lead song ‘Calcutta Grove’.
Taylor shows so much maturity for someone so young, with the sensibilities of Tom Waits and the jaded croons of Ray La Montagne, It truly is a sound for the pained and the afflicted.
