Comprising a live show that offers four bassists and two drummers, it’s always gonna be a task for Edmonton, Alberta's Shout Out Out Out Outs to recreate the same maelstrom of sound when hunched down in the studio. But though it’s almost impossible to find a review that doesn’t comment on the waif like nature of the band on record as opposed to live, what tends to be forgotten is the different dynamic that bands can strive for on the individual formats.

Reintegration Time Shout Out Out Out Out resrain themselves to the point of inertia though. Studio time spent fiddling with old Moog’s and Vocoders simply means the tracks here gestate limply into some sort of self flagellating space float. What should be bouncy and expressive becomes repetitive and flat, and the introduction of guest vocalists - Cadence Weapon on ‘Coming Home’ and San Serac on ‘One Plus Two Plus Three’ - simply sounds like bad pastiche opposed to innovation. A disappointing sophomore release from a band whose live reputation should just carry them forwards.
