Tribute to the much missed Irish rockers.
Despite their relatively short life span- discounting the various one-off reformations in the latter part of the noughties- Kilkenny’s Kerbdog were/are held with almost mythical esteem by those looking for some crushingly heavy alternative racket from a little closer to home, and some of those pay loving tribute here.
Brit post-hardcore favorites Jamie Lenmen formerly of Reuben, screamer-turned-folkie Frank Turner, and Dave McPherson are some of the higher profile names involved, but with the exception of Turner most of the takes here are rather boringly faithful to the originals and an opportunity to show the songs in a different light is missed.
Whilst it’s great to revel in the nostalgia of bouncing around your room to the likes of ‘Sally’, ‘On The Turn’ or ‘Mexican Wave’ once again this record should only encourage you to step out and get the originals. Seriously, go do it!
