Camp Bestival returns for third year run of fun by the sea!

Fresh from winning the coveted Family Festival Award at this year's UK Festival Awards, Camp Bestival is all set to continue its crusade to bring back the Great British summer holiday!
Combining comedy, music, spoken word, art and craft workshops, a petting zoo, sports park, kids garden, jousting and dance lessons; Camp Bestival is truly one of the most breath taking festivals on the calendar! Returning to the salubrious surrounds of Lulworth Castle for another jam-packed jaunt bursting with bountiful excitement for all the family, Camp Bestival is set for the first weekend of the school holidays - July 30th to August 1st. Part holiday camp with its blue coats and sports day type activities and part music festival, set alongside the beautiful Jurrassic coastline; the popular summer event is the from the brains behind the successful Isle of Wight festival Bestival.
Acts that have been confirmed so far include Madness, The Human League, George Clint with Parliament Funkadelic, Calvin Harris, Chipmunk, Lee Scratch Perry, The Fall, The Cuban Brothers, Nextmen and DJ Yoda, plus many more. Comedians Andrew Maxwell, Jim Jefferies, Marcus Brigstocke and Andre Vincent have also been announced for the Comedy area. While making a return will be the likes of Mr Tumble, English National Ballet, River Cottage Cafe and under age club Let's Go Crazy. New for 2010 will be the East Lulworth Literary Institute and Freestyle Sports Park; while The KLF's Bill Drummond will be performing with The 17 Choir, an UK debut that can only be exclusively witnessed at Bestival's sister event.
One of the revelations of Camp Bestival 2009 was the mighty Mr Tumble. He proved such an enormous hit with the kids that Camp Bestival just had to get him back for 2010! With a series of slapstick and sing-along performances plus some extra-special meet and greets spanning the entire event, the tiny tots won't know what's hit them!
Offering something a bit different and special, Camp Bestival will play host to one of the music and art world's most intriguing maverick sons, Bill Drummond; giving you the chance to become part of an amazing musical art project. In this exclusive UK appearance, Bill will work with 10 groups of 17 people to record one of his scores. These will be combined and played back to the entire audience at Camp Bestival on Sunday night. To be part of one of the first 5 choirs to take part, email The17@campbestival.net to register now. The cultural pleasures of Camp Bestival are also taking shape with a veritable smorgasbord of erudite delights. The English National Ballet, who were one of last year's highlights, will return for a 2010 show. You will also be able to feed your brain with mind-treats at The East Lulworth Literary Institute relishing rare live interviews with the likes of film director Andrea Arnold; learn How To Be DJ Derek with the man himself; discover 'ideas to live by' through expert sessions from the School of Life; plus loads of other diverse and fascinating special guests and sessions to be announced soon. There's also going to be House of Fairytales, a brand new art project headed up by renowned artist Gavin Turk.
A huge hit with the Camp Bestival crowd in 2009, the River Cottage Café crew will return in 2010 with a sumptuous selection of rustic nourishment. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall commented: 'Myself and the River Cottage Team had such a fantastic time at this year's Camp Bestival! We are really excited to be involved again with the River Cottage Café in 2010!'
There's plenty more Music, Comedy and Spoken Word to be announced soon as well as plentiful activities for the young and old including Arts & Crafts workshops, Dance lessons, 100 free things for kids to do, Jousting from the Knights of Lulworth Castle, the Freestyle Sports Park including Mountain Bike, Skate And Parkour displays, madcap merriment from their very own Bestival Bluecoats and a new Kids Garden, which has doubled in size from 2009 giving the bouncing bambinos even more space to cavort to their hearts' content. Plus there's the idyllic and spacious camp sites, great family facilities, country fare, local foodstuffs and so much more to be enjoyed and all for a snip at just £145 for an adult weekend ticket. Just to give you an idea on how much will be going on over the weekend, our friends at Camp Bestival have complied an A - Z of activities!
THE A-Z of CAMP BESTIVAL 2010
A. Acrobatics. There will be plenty of acrobatics on display from Zippos Festival Circus the Roundhouse Circus Company, the Insect Circus and the Big Top Mania Crew.
B. Boutique Babysitting. The Kids Club under Canvas gives you the chance to have a care-free few hours whilst the kids have a blast.
C. Cabanas; Why not hire one (for a Birthday Party, family picnic or a surprise treat) and check out the main stage in super slick style? The ultimate, intimate VIP area, the Kids can have a kip in luxury out the back while you bop to the Main Stage's musical delights.
D. Bill Drummond/The 17. Become a member of The17: Bill Drummond's (KLF, Timelords etc) choir. In this exclusive UK appearance, Bill will work with 10 groups of 17 people to record one of his scores. These will be combined and played back to the entire audience at Camp Bestival on Sunday night. Sign up at the Sunday Best tent on site and get involved!
E. East Lulworth Literary Institute; a feast of food for your brains, from Spoken Word and Poetry to How To sessions with William Orbit and Andrea Arnold and The Hip Hop Shakespeare Company there's something for all the family. And don't forget you can head to the Penguin Books Tent for some story time fun.
F. Fairy Tale Fancy Dress. Whether you make your own costume or check out Smiffys and the Dressing Up Area on site, make sure you join in the fancy dress parade, which this year will be held on Saturday, as we turn Lulworth Castle into a magical land of make believe.
G. The Gruffalo! We've got two showings of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's award winning story performed by Tall Stories whose unique brand of physical story theatre has taken them around the world. The show will bring to life the amazing story of the clever Mouse's journey through the forest as he beguiles the creatures who'd like to eat him with tales of his friend the Gruffalo's terrible tusks and terrible claws, until he encounters the Gruffalo's terrible teeth in his terrible jaws for himself. Don't miss it.
H. The House of Fairy Tales. A fun-filled parallel world created by renowned artists Deborah Curtis and Gavin Turk that will keep you entertained for hours.
I. Isle of Boden. A brand new area where you can catch Howard Marks and Billy Brag reading bedtime stories and DJ Sets from the likes of Zero 7, Friendly Fires, DJ Yoda and Rob da Bank.
J. Jousting. Don't miss the Knights of Lulworth Castle clashing lances and dodging burning maces. It's a truly amazing spectacle performed by Horses Impossible.
K. Kids Garden. This year it's double the size and double the fun with a treasure trove of good stuff to keep the little'uns happy all day long.
L. Lulworth Castle; the picturesque backdrop to a magical weekend!
M. Music! As you'd expect we've got a veritable smörgåsbord of aural treats from Friendly Fires, Madness, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Calvin Harris, Chipmunk, Human League, The Fall and The Cuban Brothers to Annie Mac, DJ Yoda, Mr Scruff, The Nextmen featuring MC Wrec, DJ Derek, The Sombrero Sound System and Fear of Theydon, every angle is covered.
N. New stuff. There's loads of new things to check out at Camp Bestival 2010, from the Freestyle Sports Park and JOHNSON'S® Baby Change Garden toHendrick's Horseless Carriage of Curiosities and 'Singstar's Cocktail and Dreams arena where you can sing your heart out alongside special performances from 80s heroes including T'Pau's Carol Decker and the original Bucks Fizz.
O. Over 100 free things for kids to do; from three appearances from Mr Tumble and tap dancing lessons to making balloon animals and learning about science the fun way with punk science, there's so much to do.
P. Parcour. Be amazed by the freestyle running displays at the Freestyle Sports Park, you can also catch skateboard and BMX displays and if you bring your board or bike you can even have a go.
Q. Queues! There won't be many at Camp Bestival as we've added lots more facilities including food stalls and toilets to make sure you spend most of your time having fun.
R. River Cottage Café; Hugh Fearnely-Whittingstall's incredible food-spot that proved a huge hit last year with its delicious food and nettle beer! Plus we have plenty of other gastronomically good food with loads of lovely concessions at Camp Bestival offering everything from The Grill's BBQ Breakfasts and The Sea Cow's mouth-wateringly fresh Fish & Chips to the Flaming Cactus's great Latino food and Pure Pie's finest hand-made pies, you won't want for anything
S. Son et Lumiere. Our staggering fireworks finale that has to be seen to be believed.

U. Unicorn Kid is just one of the Bestival Residents that also include Greg Wilson, Jack Beats, Joy Orbison, Beth Jeans Houghton, Jamie Woon, Jaguar Skills, Charli XCX and Callum Negus Fancey.
V. Videopia. You could be the star of Videopia's newest miniature masterpiece which, for Camp Bestival, will be a makeshift remake of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.
X. Xylophone, we reckon at least one band will have one. Check them all out and see if we're right!
Y. You; well, it just wouldn't be the same with out you!

Adult Weekend Ticket (with camping) - £145
Student Weekend Ticket (with camping) - £135 - For full-time students only. Valid NUS or ISIC ID required at the box office - no other student ID accepted.
Age 11 to 17 Weekend Ticket (with camping) - £72.50
