MICKO & THE MELLOTRONICS

‘Would You Believe It’ is the first single from Micko & The Mellotronics’ forthcoming album ‘The Trinity’, and their third to date, scheduled for release early next year.

The Mellotronics’ songs are considerably multi-faceted insofar that like those of rock’s truly eccentric innovators; they rarely follow a set lyrical path. Throw the motto of the late News Of The World ‘all human life is there’ into the mix, and you get the picture…

‘Would You Believe It’, which was inspired by a stock-phrase courtesy of Micko’s late father, begins with shunting guttural guitar coupled with a heavy beautifully disoriented bass line.

What I found fascinating about the song is that its existential theme was initially overridden by my lyrical mishearing. I thought “journey to the heart of it” was referring to rock music everyman ‘Johnny’. A gander of the press release set me straight, and solidified the John Lydon-like universal theme exemplified by the song’s video which see Micko wading through water fully clothed.

Micko is joined on the track by Paul Cuddeford on guitar and ebow; Budge Magraw on bass, and Jan Noble on drums (both ex-Cesarians).
